After a discussion with Kev, AKA Blue Haddock of the forum we decided that we should put together a short weekend trip to the lakes early next year. Thinking of getting maybe 10-12 pugâ€™s and there owners to meet for a post winter wake up call. Superb driving and scenery to be had and blows the cobwebs after a winter sat around indoors. Few dayâ€™s driving and a few good nights out in Bowness to get acquainted. Looking at meeting on Friday 27th March and having a short drive around on the Friday afternoon. Then checking in accommodation before having a meal out in Bowness-on-Windermere in the evening. Spend the whole of Saturday hooning and taking in the beautiful scenery afforded around this area taking in as many of the lakes as is possible. Another evening out on Saturday before spending maybe a leisurely day on Sunday having a scout around Ambleside or such like before departing for home at Sunset. We have arranged exclusive use of The Lonsdale Guest House in Bowness-on-Windermere for all those wishing to attend with costs are Â£45 per person based on two sharing a double, or Â£60 a night for a single person staying in a double room, breakfast is included at this price. A deposit of Â£40 per person is required by the end of December. First come first served if anyone wants the four poster room! Total accommodation costs will be between Â£90-120 depending on room, excellent value for a quality venue.Suggested schedule: Friday Meet up at Hotels and check in. Short drive around Windermere itself, Coniston, Elterwater and Grassmere. Back to accommodation before evening in Bowness. Saturday A long drive taking in as many Lakes as possible but to include: Derwent Crummock Bassenthwaite Ullswater If weather permits take in some of the more challenging roads in the area such as Wrynose Pass, Hardknott Pass, Honister Pass or Kirkstone Pass. Stopping en-route of course for lunch at some decent hostelry. Sunday Gentle drive around anything we may have missed, meet up for Sunday dinner in Ambleside and depart homeward.
