Well it’s that time of the year again when we all need to start thinking about the fruity boys hotel and the stunning scenery of the beautiful Lake District. So dates are 15th to the 17th March 2013. Get your weekend passes signed and get your Pugs prepared it’s going to be a blast. Each year this event runs it gets better and better, it is a stunning area to drive around especially at this time of the year when tourism is not at its greatest on the tight and twisting roads that we explore. It’s a combination of gentile narrow passes, and a few quicker, flatter roads to tempt the low slung cars out! However we need some new blood and are looking for people who have never been to this event to get your names down and let’s get 20 odd Pugs waking up the sleepy villages, and making people stare in envy as a fleet of Peugeot Perfection glides by, wishing they could be in the position of owning the classic GTi. It’s a great mix of age and car that takes to the roads for this trip ranging from the track prepared Mi16’s through to the entry level 1.1 litres, and a few hairdresser CTi’s! So get your pugs dusted down, bring out your 104, 106, 107, 205, 206, 207, 208, 304, 305, 306, 307, 308, 405, 406, 407, 408, in fact any model to play. It’s a real social event and we make all welcome, the driving is great and a few good evenings in Bowness to wind down after the fun. Cost wise we ask everyone to make there own arrangements hotel wise (keep your eyes on the forum for where people book) and arrive each morning at the Glebe Road Car park in Bowness with a full fuel tank. Hotels range from approx £75-£100 for the two nights Bed and Breakfast depending on your tastes. It is a two day driving event with alternate routes for each day. On the Friday we meet at Ten o’clock in the car park in Bowness and we will then take in Grange Over Sands, Barrow-in-Furness, Broughton-in-Furness, over the Austhwaite Brow and the North up the coastline to stretch the legs all the way up North to Whitehaven. Then take in some of the Northern Lakes at leisure before heading home to Bowness for the evening. Second day will take in the challenging Passes and Brows that will take the breath away, and some straight and narrows to quicken the pace a little. All in a combination that I hope will please all tastes. Its not a race so do not think its an all out blast to scare the locals and sheep, but we do occasionally appreciate the chance to open the butterflys a little. As we get closer detailed maps will be produced and sent out to those that want them, and if there is any particular place or road that people want to see or visit I am sure we can deviate to accommodate.
