OK we are hours away from the Friday Start and days away from hopefully seeing many more of you on the Saturday Route. I have had to make a few concessions due to roadworks especially around the area's affected by bridge repairs etc,. For people arriving Friday we intend to check into Hotel after the drive. Meeting Point Plan is to meet at the Glebe Road Car Park area in Bowness-on-Windermere for both days. Note this is a pay and display but is a good meeting point with Cafe's etc just across the road if you get there early. Friday Meet and Route All meet up at Glebe Road for 10:30am with a 11:00am start. We will be stopping after a few hours for a bite to eat at a suitable point en-route. This route is approx. 160 mile which should take around 5 hours with a stop for lunch. Start at Glebe Road head south down the eastern side of Lake Windermere towards Grange Over Sands. We then take in a clockwise tour hugging the coast wherever we can. Taking in places such as Ulverston, Barrow-in-Furness, Broughton-in-Furness, Ravenglass, Seascale, Whitehaven (good point to eat), ****ermouth, Buttermere, Keswick, Thirlmere, Grassmere, Ambleside and back into Bowness. A gentle tour with not too many nasties. I have not reserved any dining for the Friday night so it's a case of finding what's out there. There is plenty of choice. Saturday Meet and Route All meet up at Glebe Road for 10:00am with a 10:30am start. We will be stopping after a few hours for a bite to eat at a suitable point en-route. This route is approx. 150 mile which should take around 6-7 hours with a stop for lunch, and a few photo stops as well. I would really like if someone could volunteer to do some "drive by" photo's perhaps coming down the Honister pass, is there anyone that can handle a camera and has a good camera please shout up on here or when we meet. This route is a little more challenging with plenty of steep hills to climb and descend so make sure you have good brakes and clutch. Again start at Glebe Road car Park and take in the following. Please be considerate to other road users and bear in mind we will be on single track roads with animals freely roaming! I have reserved a table at a pub/restaurant in WIndermere itself for the Saturday night (small taxi ride up hill unless you feel energetic) for about 10 people, however I am certain they could accomodate more if required. Booked for 7pm, and the place does have TV for rugby viewing! So that's it in a nutshell. I hope as many of you can make it as possible after all it's the petrolheads you meet on these days out that make it count. Last year was a great first planned trip I have made and it certainnly encouraged me to take it on again, so please make the effort and you will be rewarded with a great day out. So whether you're being hardcore and taking in the whole week-end,or joining in for the fun on the Saturday, llok forward to meeting you all and having a good nosy aroun the cars. If anyone wants the route's I have them in autoroute format only and will gladly mail them out. Other than that keep your eyes on the car in front and make sure you dont lose the car behind.
